Top Weekend Trips In Uganda
In Uganda, we consider weekends as period for relaxation after the weekly routine work. The two weekend days include Saturday and Sunday – This is the time when Ugandans and foreigners enjoy them selves to overcome stress and for refreshment. Others start from Friday up to Sunday.
On Saturday, Seventh day Adventists go to their respective churches for worshiping – such Christians can enjoy their weekend praising the Lord through songs and reading bible verses. Then on Sunday, majority of the Christians including cathartics, Protestants, Born again, Orthodox among others go to their churches for praise and worship.
While others go to praise on the weekend, other people plan to spend their time at the beaches, cinema halls, theatres, Gambling clubs, and night clubs among others. On the other hand, some people decide to leave Kampala City (the capita city of Uganda) to other areas like Jinja, Entebbe, Mukono, Masaka and so on.
With African jungle Adventures, we can make your week
end even more enjoyable – our expert tour consultants can draft for you two or three days trips at pocket friendly costs to the following destinations:
Bulago Island – I stumbled across Bulago Island on the recommendation of a friend who had recently taken the entire cast of Mamma Mia (Kampala’s amateur theatre group) there as a post-show-wrap-party. Bulago Island is about 500-acre, found in Lake Victoria with a Villa providing 7 bedrooms, 4 in the villa & 3 in the adjacent guest house. The villa is run by the company One Minute South led by
The Equator – Always dreamed of straddling the line between the northern and southern hemisphere? Well, now you’re in Uganda your dreams can come true! To reach the official equator line from Kampala you can take a mutatu down towards Masaka (about 1 – 1.30 hours outside of Kampala) and asked to be dropped off just before.
Jinja – to the source of River Nile, you can take a boat trip to the origin of the River. Meeting the origin point of the longest River in Africa is memorable. From Kampala to Jinja, it’s approximately 1.5 hours drive via Mabira Forest. We can make stopover for simple birding exercise, study about different tree species, and breath in fresh Air among others.
Lagoon Island Resort – The closest island to Kampala is home to this luxury resort. It’s is probably a better option that Bulago Island if you’re only going with one or two people. You can get there from the Munyonyo – Speke resort marina.
Bwindi National Park Gorillas – This requires at to start on Friday and set off to the misty jungles of Bwindi Impenetable Forest national park, a home to the endangered mountain gorillas, track gorillas in Saturday and return to Kampala on Sunday. The 3 day gorilla safari Uganda package is among the top selling, with 2 nights in any lodge on edges of the forest because, it is over 8 hours drive from Kampala to the park.
Ngamba Chimp Sanctuary – 45hours boat cruise from Entebbe to the Island situated on Lake Victoria. There, you can see chimps in cages not like in Kibale where you need to struggle looking for them in the tropical forest.
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Perhaps not the most romantic way to experience your first rhinos but this is in fact the only place in Uganda where you can catch a sight of the beasts these days. The sanctuary is located just off the Gulu Highway at Nakitoma and is about a 2.5 hour drive up the highway from Kampala.
Ssezibwa falls – it is located en route to Jinja town. Many myth stories and associated to this waterfall but you explore every thing is you pay a weekend tour there.
Mabamba Shoebill Sanctuary – Located near Entebbe in Wakiso district – this is one of the best sites you can view shoebill stocks. While their, you can do boat birding.
Bujjagali falls, beaches, Landing centres like Kasenyi among others.
