Trill, excitement and pure wilderness give you an adventure which you will remember, because rafting on American river is not something ordinary.

American River rafting is comprised of three sections, the North Fork, Middle Fork and South Fork. The American River canyons are considered the most popular rafting destination in California, due to their close proximity to the Central Valley, Lake Tahoe, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

The three forks of the American River range in difficulty from beginner (Class III) to advanced (Class IV+). The following descriptions provide an overview of each river and more detailed information about the different whitewater rafting trips available.

South Fork American – Class III

The South Fork American River is the most popular introductory river in California since it is suitable for beginners while still satisfying experienced rafters. The South Fork is controlled by upstream reservoirs that provide reliable flows seven days a week all season long with above average flows in the spring months. The South Fork is twenty-one miles in length and is divided into two sections, the Upper and Lower with 1/2, 1 or 2-Day trips available.

The Upper section is approximately 9 miles long and flows through a steep forested canyon. The action starts almost immediately with Meat Grinder (Class III+), a long technical boulder slalom. Class II & III rapids continue one after the other until the grand finale… a wild S-turn ride down a twisted chute called Trouble Maker (Class III+).

The Lower Run starts off mellow with easy Class II warm up rapids in the first few miles. The walls begin to close in from each side as you enter “The Gorge,” where Class III+ rapids such as Fowlers Rock, Satan’s Cesspool, and Hospital Bar are sure to challenge even the most experienced rafters. The lower section is approximately 12 miles long.

Middle Fork American – Class III-IV

The Middle Fork of the American is a true wilderness river. In the solitude of this beautiful 2000′ deep rugged canyon, there are numerous Class III & IV rapids, peaceful calms, abundant wildlife and more than a dozen historical sites from the Gold Rush era.

The action starts just 30 yards downstream from put-in with a Class III rapid called Panic Alley. The next 2 miles provide fun, easy rapids as a warm up for the first Class IV challenges of the day, Last Chance and Tunnel Chute. More Class IV whitewater continues further downstream with Lettuce Hole and Kanaka Falls.

After an interim of calmer waters, the river gradient steepens providing four miles of intense rapids, beginning with an 8′ waterfall called Chunder (Class IV). Immediately following is a mandatory portage around the Class VI, unrunnable Ruck-A-Chucky Falls. The action doesn’t stop there as the river provides continuous Class IV rafting all the way to take-out, through Cleavage, Parallel Parking, Driver’s Ed and Catapult rapids.

Middle Fork rafting trips are 17 miles in length and run seven days a week all season long due to upstream reservoir releases, with 1, 2 & 3-Day trips available.

North Fork American – Class IV

The free flowing North Fork American river is the most difficult of the three forks, rated advanced Class IV+. As it flows through a 2000′ deep canyon, lush foliage extends from high on the canyon ridges down to the whitewashed riverside cliffs, while streams from side canyons cascade into the incredibly clear North Fork American. Completely dependent on melting snow, the North Fork is a spring river and usually runs during April and May. An above average snowpack will extend the season into June.

The entire length of the North Fork is 9.5 miles. The excitement begins immediately as you enter Chamberlain Falls Gorge. They also call it “The Separate Kingdom,” because despite the fact that this rugged paradise has more miles of beaches than any other Hawaiian island, it remains the least populous. That’s why visitors who really want to get away book a Kauai luxury vacation rental.

Restaurants, shopping and activities still abound, but the biggest draw has to be the Na PaliCoast, whose rugged cliffs have been featured in many photos, movies and the popular television series “Lost.” Even if you’re staying in Maui, Oahu or Hawaii, a boat tour of the Na Pali Coast should definitely be on your itinerary. via vacationrental

Caribbean Cruises are extremely popular lately. More people is realizing that Cruising on Caribbean can be a perfect opportunity to spend vacation a little different than ordinary. Something exciting, fresh and new. Among more then 50 amazing islands (750 if you count Bahamas), you will discover why is the whole world talking about Caribbean. A rich variety of vistas, people and places await, along with swaying palms and idyllic beaches of golden sand. The network of islands in the Caribbean is in fact so extensive that it is possible to book several Caribbean cruises and avoid going to the same islands twice!

There are four basic Caribbean cruise routes used by cruise operators: Western Caribbean Cruise Route – Departing from seaports in Texas, Louisiana and Florida, the Western Route takes in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, the island of Cozumel, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and any number of islands off the coasts of Honduras and Belize.

Eastern Caribbean Cruise Route – One of the most popular Caribbean cruise routes, the Eastern Route typically departs from Florida and other seaports along the eastern seaboard of the United States. The route calls on destinations such as Key West, The Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands the Virgin Islands (including St. Thomas and St. Croix), and Puerto Rico.

Southern Caribbean Cruise Route – This route normally commences at San Juan in Puerto Rico, and takes in many possible destinations along the Lesser Antilles and the Netherlands Antilles as far west as Aruba.

Exotic/Long-duration Caribbean Cruise Route – This route takes in any/all of the above destinations, and can sometimes end in a different place to where the cruise started.

Given this broad assortment of destinations available in the Caribbean, it can be a bit overwhelming when trying to make that crucial decision on which islands to fit into your itinerary. After all, you don’t want to miss out on some true Caribbean gems, do you? So, whether you’re planning a short vacation or a longer cruise break away from home, here is a selection of ‘must-sees’ & ‘must-dos’ on your Caribbean adventure.

St Croix (Virgin Islands) – Take a night kayak trip in Salt River National Park and visit the first landing site of Christopher Columbus on his voyage to the New World.

Grenada – Although ravaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, Grenada is still well worth a visit for its scuba diving. You can explore the largest shipwreck in the Caribbean here and see an underwater volcano.

St. Thomas (Virgin Islands) – The Cinnamon Bay National Park offers excellent snorkeling opportunities. You can see a wealth of underwater life in the shallow waters around St. Thomas.

Jamaica – Why not try your hand at bamboo rafting in Montego Bay?

Puerto Rico – No Caribbean cruise would be complete without a visit to the world famous Condado Beach on the island of Puerto Rico.

Aruba – Want to find Caribbean paradise? How about relaxing on one of the 365 beaches that surround the Dutch island of Aruba.

St Kitts – Swim with the turtles in the waters around St Kitts and then relax on the pink sand beaches on this beautiful island.

Good luck with planning your trip and happy cruising.

A Visitors Guide To Rio de Janeiro Brazil contains many useful information about this beautiful city. Rio is probably the pearl of South America. Exciting and at the same time so tempting, Rio represent one of the most lively cities in the world. Visitors who came here said that they never felt so much energy and passion on one place before. So you must be wondering why is Rio so special?

Rio de Janeiro is a city located in southeastern Brazil. Many people also know Rio de Janeiro as the Marvelous City. The population of Rio de Janeiro is just over six million people making one of the most densely populated cities in all of South America. But with all of those people in one area Rio de Janeiro is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Every year Rio de Janeiro sees tourists from all over the world. The main reason that Rio de Janeiro is so popular among tourists is because of the wide variety of activities that are available, as well as the attractions.

If you are going to be planning a trip to Rio de Janeiro you may want to do it during the biggest party of the year; the Carnival. Every year Rio de Janeiro has a carnival in which people show up to have nothing but a great time. It is accompanied by music, sales, and fun. And do not forget about all the people who go to the carnival every year. Just one day alone will bring in close to 200,000. All of this makes the carnival one of the most popular events in the world year in and year out.

A big part of life in Rio de Janeiro is sports. The most popular one being soccer, but this is not the only option in this city. Other popular sports include beach football and volleyball, as well as motor racing. In addition, rowing and sailing are very popular in the ocean. You should look into all of these sports if you are in Rio de Janeiro; either to take part, or to simply sit back and watch.

A trip to Rio de Janeiro would not be the same if you did not hit the beaches. There is plenty of space to be had, and all you need to do is show up. No matter if you are going to swim in the ocean or just sun bathe, heading to the beaches of Rio de Janeiro is a great time for anybody. Not to mention the fact that you can take part in several different water sports.

The weather in Rio de Janeiro is tropical all year round. During the winter months temperatures only fall into the 60s. And during the summer you should expect them to reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times. This makes it easy to travel to Rio de Janeiro no matter what time of the year it is.

The Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport is used for all of the international flights that come into the area. In addition there are two other airports in the Rio de Janeiro area that can be used for smaller planes, and flights within the area.

A trip to Rio de Janeiro is one that you will remember for the rest of your life. The tourism in this city is rising every year thanks to all of the activities and attractions of the area. No matter if you visit Rio de Janeiro during the big carnival or just in the winter, you will have tons of fun. The weather is great, and the people are always friendly.

Weekend in Belgrade can be experience beyond every expectation! This city is probably Europe biggest surprise. Historical heritage, lively cultural life, crossing of two rivers, amazing night life in clubs during morning hours and food from almost every kitchen in the world are just few reasons what separate this city from others. The moment you think you saw it all, ask yourself have you went to Belgrade?

Why should I go? Because it has about the best nightlife in Europe: cosy cafes, terrific bars concealed within ordinary residential blocks, glitzy glamour joints and pulsating nightclubs that are magnets for the best DJs around. One night in Belgrade and you’ll be won over by the disarmingly friendly locals, all on supercharged joie de vivre.

It’s also a fascinating daytime city, with a commanding position on the Danube, a sprawling citadel, lots of unusual sights, great restaurants and good shopping. And it’s cheap and untouristy. For now, at least. Hurry and you’ll get there before the Eurovision Song Contest does, this April. After that, my hunch is that Belgrade will shuffle onto the city-break map of Europe in style.

What do I do? Start at the Kalemegdan Citadel, for an elevated view of the Danube and its confluence with the Sava. The park here is beloved of Belgraders, who come for their first snog, to push prams and to relish the changing seasons. Outside the gate is the smart, baroque main shopping street, Kneza Mihailova. Do call in at the intriguingly named “?”, a magical old bar/cafe/restaurant that serves formidable gibanica (Serbian pie made from filo pastry, cheese, eggs and sour cream) and great plum brandies (the national drink).

For some quantum quirk, there’s the Nikola Tesla Museum (Krunska 51; 00 381 11-243 3886, www.tesla-museum.org ; 50p), dedicated to Serbia’s hero of science. Don’t miss the hourly demonstrations of his inventions, including the electric motor, radio and remote control. At the most hair-raising exhibit, visitors are left holding an unattached neon light next to a 10ft-high Tesla coil that produces half a million volts. Lightning forks dance between two metal spheres, like a scene from Carry on Screaming, then the neon in your hand flickers on at full strength. Disconcerting, but fun.

If you’ve a craving for cobbles, the lovely old riverside town of Zemun is three miles to the north. It is famous for excellent fish restaurants and the Tower of Sibinjanin Janko, built in 1896 to keep an eye on the Turks.

Where do I stay? The 17-room Hotel Admiral Club (Venizelosova 31; 303 8260, www.hoteladmiralclubbeograd.com ; doubles from £140) opened in 2006 in a neoclassical villa, and has large rooms and antiques. A more central and snazzy alternative is the Aleksandar Palas (Kralja Petra 13-15; 330 5300, www.aleksandarpalas.com ; doubles from £140). Or try the grand old Balkan Hotel (363 6000, www.balkanhotel.net ; doubles from £99), which is central, with sunny rooms. Where do I eat? For traditional Serbian food in a magnificent setting, try the Terrace restaurant (328 3011) inside the citadel – great views, live folk music, and main courses, including a “gypsy’s barbecue”, from £5.

Jutting out into the Danube, down a gangplank and past some geese, is the wooden and wonderful Stara Koliba (311 7444, www.starakoliba.com ). Specialising in seafood, it’s the best of the many floating restaurants on this stretch of riverbank. Danube perch with sour cream costs £12.

How do I get there? For now, the only nonstop flights to Belgrade are from Heathrow, with British Airways (0870 850 9850, www.ba.com ) or JAT (020 7629 2007, www.jat.com ).

Innsbruck Austrian ski resort is one of the known in Europe. It’s at the same time famous winter sports center and beautiful ski resort. With great picks above 2500m and fabulous hotels, it is ideal for family vacation and winter sport activities. Skiing in Austria has a long tradition. Alps and snowy winters secured great develop of winter sport tradition. Because of that fact Innsbruck today is a destination which is favorite among many tourists around the world.

Innsbruck, captital of the province of Tirol is one of that region’s, nay one of the whole country’s top tourist draws. The same Innsbruck is also one of Europe’s best ski attractions, but, the skiing in Innsbruck is not really in Innsbruck The skiing sold under the Innsbruck label is really the skiing immediately above and around the city.

The villages of Igls, Tulfes, Mutters and Aximer Lizum are connected to the city by a free and frequent ski bus. The ski pass which covers the bus ride also entitles the holder to slide on the more than 100km. of groomed slopes and trails in the above villages.

There are, as well, more than 150 prepared cross country trails for those who like to do a bit of gliding and kicking. So Innsbruck then is the perfect base to do some of the best skiing in the Tirol. Naturally you also have the option of staying directly in any one of the village listed here. If, for example, you choose to stay in Igls, just minutes above the city by car,you would find the perfect mountain setting. The town has a small commercial area of it’s own, ample hotels, restaurants and the like, and it’s own very definite personality.

The skiing directly above it is simply a short walk from the village centre, and scenic cable car ride from there. It is a tremendous area for good recreational skiers with beginner’s slopes both at the start of the cable car and small areas right on the mountain. This area, the Patscherkofel, is skiable to 2,250m, and was the site of the downhill race during the Olympic games. The other villages just a little further away from the hub of Innsbruck, also have extensive skiing within their borders and are also ideal spots to enjoy your winter vacation.

The beauty of actually staying in Innsbruck however is your ease of transport to the slopes of all four centres. Innsbruck is also truthfully able to boast guaranteed snow. It is, in fact, just about thirty minutes by road to the year round skiing on the Stubai glacier, and not all that much farther to the Hintertux glacier which also has skiing three hundred and sixty five days a year. via skiaustria

People say for Breckenridge Ski Resort that is Vacation Skiing at It’s Best. And they are right! This amazing ski resort is most visited resort in States in past few years. With it location in Colorado within White river National Forest, with 8 person gondola and great amount of intermediate ski terrain which are ideal for beginners and for those who are little more advanced, this resort provide rich program which will fulfill your holiday expectations.

The ultimate day of skiing and snowboarding at Breckenridge Resort starts off with the purchase of your lift ticket. Grab a ticket at the counter upon arrival, or book your ticket in advance online. Once you’re all sorted with your ski pass, it’s time to click into those bindings and tear up the infamous ski terrain at the Breckenridge Resort.

For the Ultimate Day, we’ll assume that you are an intermediate to advanced skier looking to challenge yourself and willing to raise your pulse to chest thumping levels.

Brandon Quinn, a local resident, has compiled the ultimate powder day rendezvous for skiing and / or snowboarding this famous Colorado ski resort.

It all starts off with a quick donut at Daylight Donuts to get the energy going for the full day ahead. Grab your skis and hop on the Quicksilver Lift. The Quicksilver lift bypasses some of Breckenridge’s beginner terrain. Since we are well beyond the french fry / pie method of skiing, we’ll just watch the first day skiers tumble down the hill while we’re on route to the powder stashes on Peak 10. When you unload from the Quicksilver, head down the Falcon Chair and get ready for some of Breckenridge’s best glade skiing. The Falcon will take you to the top of “The Burn” which is short but steep and generally holds nice stashes of powder. Make a couple laps on the Burn and then duck over to the south side of Peak Ten for some powder bumps on “The Mustang”. There’s some fun little natural kickers that all provide soft landings. Just make sure you have enough speed for getting back to the lift because the run out can be flat especially if there’s deep snow.

Now we’re ready to traverse cross mountain to E-Chair. Make lap after lap of fresh powder as you keep an eye on Peak 8 and the highest chairlift in North America, the infamous “Imperial Superchair”. If you time it right, you can milk the terrain of E-Chair and as soon as the Imperial lift opens charge up to the top of Peak 8. Peak 8 provides inspirational views of the Upper Blue Valley and at 12,998 feet above sea level, this is the highest lift served terrain in North America. For a little “scare factor” make sure you chuck yourself off the Lake Chutes for some of Summit Counties steepest terrain. This also accesses Breckenridge’s newest terrain — Snow White. The possibilities are endless once your up at Peak 8. You can drop into Whale’s Tail for some wind harvested powder, or carve deep powder turns after hiking Peak 7.

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading about the perfect day at the Breckenridge Ski Resort. Come and “ski” for yourself.
