Innsbruck, captital of the province of Tirol is one of that region’s, nay one of the whole country’s top tourist draws. Ski resorts in Bulgaria

There are three main ski resorts in Bulgaria. They are Pamporovo, Bansko and Borovets. These are all first class resorts and would rival any ski-resort in Italy or Austria.

Bansko is situated by Glazne river, in the south western region of Bulgaria, at the north-eastern foothills of Pirin beneath the highest and most beautiful karst part of the mountain, 170 km south of Sofia, and connected to the remaining parts of the country by bus and railway transport. Its name is related with the ancient Bulgarian word ban (from boean, boyan) which means master. Surrounded by the Pirin, Rila and the Rhodope mountains, Bansko is a climatic mountain resort with a short hot summer and long mild winter.

Ski in Austria

Innsbruck-Igls ski resort is just six kilometres from the city of Innsbruck. The actor Steve McQueen once said that he’d rather wake up in the middle of nowhere than in any city in the world. In their quest towards commercialism, many modern ski areas are beginning to resemble the urban locations that their visitors are escaping from. Indeed, some ski vacations merely present a replica of city life, albeit on the mountains.

Unfortunately, the crowding, long lines for lifts and gondolas and the lack of freedom as to where you can go can bring about the stress we strive to escape. For skiers who have finessed their skills, the predictability of perfectly groomed corduroy may grow to be far too mundane. Isn’t skiing about escaping a mundane existence? If you believe that skiing is about personal freedom, isn’t it time you experienced helicopter skiing? Alaska offers a vast variety of opportunities.
